Navigators are Championship Bound! Info for Fri, Mar 8

Both teams are officially in! Thank you for supporting us so well along the way during this special season for our basketball teams. It was great to see many of you in Salem last night to cheer on our boys while being loud and proud. There is no question they felt the support from the crowd and it motivated them to be the best they could be.

Our basketball teams will be competing back to back for MCSAO League Championships Friday, March 8 at UMass Boston. The game will be played in the Clark Athletic Center and the address is: 100 William T Morrissey Blvd, Boston, MA 02125. Our girls will be seeking the second title in program history, while the boys are looking to earn their first ever.

The girls game will tip off at 3:30 p.m and the boys are scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m. Our bus will leave Marblehead Charter at 1 p.m. As a reminder, student-athletes should pack a lunch and plan to remain at the school following the noon dismissal on Friday.

Thank you for your flexibility with the abnormal practice schedule the next two days as we put together our game plan for Friday. Regardless of how the next few days turn out, this should hopefully be an amazing experience that our students will never forget.

As a reminder, the league charges $5 for students and $7 for adults at the gate. I know the early times are tough schedule wise, but I hope many of you are able to make it there Friday to cheer us on! Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you as always and….“GO NAVS!!”

Unfortunately this tournament was just postponed fully to next weekend. The tournament director has been told by the facility that the city has canceled all activities for the weekend so the building is unavailable.

The Charter Cup will now be played Saturday, March 9, and Sunday, March 10. We will follow the new schedule you received yesterday for Saturday next weekend. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes for you.

Thank you,
Coach Young

(Boys) I am going to ask the boys to meet there by 12:00 p.m. The games typically run ahead of schedule, so we will need to make sure we are prepared to play early. The boys should be done for the day by around 3:15 p.m, depending on how early our second game tips off.

Please let me know if you have any questions at this point about the Charter Cup. I want to make sure you have all of the information you need so that we can look ahead and plan our schedules appropriately. This tournament will be filled with great competition and should be an exciting and valuable experience for our student-athletes.

Track & Field League Championship, June 6

I wanted to send out reminders and further information about our big event next week. The MCSAO League Championship will be held on Wednesday June 6, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. There will be 29 Charter Schools from around the state represented. Please see important information below:

Address: Madison Park High School, 75 Malcolm X Blvd, Boston, MA 02120.

Bus time: Depart MCCPS at 3:00 p.m.

I will send out remind text alerts on the way back to MCCPS. I anticipate them arriving back around 8:45 p.m.

Regardless of qualifying or not, all student-athletes who are a part of our team are welcome to come on the bus and attend this event. Please let me know by the end of the day on Monday (June 4) if your child(ren) will be attending. I need to make sure that I have an accurate roster and head count for the trip.

As you know, there are 9 schools in the North Division. The top 8 student-athletes for the season from each event qualify to participate in the championship. We were able to get an impressive total of 19 entries! This is the most of any school in our division.

I would like to first congratulate our entire team for their contributions and progress up until this point. They push each other inside and outside of practice and improve as a result of their own hard work as well as the efforts of their teammates.

Marblehead Charter will be sending 9 girls and 10 boys:

Girls:

Layla Pantzer *captain

Lucy Sabin * captain

Lilah Thompson

Song Waitekus

Greta Heindl

Mary Przybycien

Capri Garibotto

Boys:

I am extremely proud of all of our student-athletes and excited to see what they are able to do next week. I know they are going to represent our school and community well.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Go Navigators!
